If you’re looking for a bite to eat in Gatehouse of Fleet then you’re in luck. This wee village has some fantastic spots to choose from. These are some of our favourite places to eat, and ones we’re happy to recommend. Whether you’re after a cosy café, a hearty pub meal, or something a bit special, there’s something here for everyone.
No.1 Fleet Street at The Ship Inn
No.1 Fleet Street at The Ship Inn is a firm favourite. The food’s fantastic – all locally sourced and seasonal – and the setting’s spot on, whether you’re inside by the fire or out in the riverside beer garden. They’ve even picked up awards for both their restaurant and hotel experience. Well worth a visit.
The Masonic Arms
The Masonic Arms is another great spot in Gatehouse, tucked away on the beautiful Ann Street. The food’s always fresh and tasty, with seasonal specials alongside the main menu. You can eat in the stylish Sunroom, the cosy bar, or outside in the beer garden – and they’ve got a brilliant selection of beers, real ales, and Scottish whiskies too.
The Murray Arms
The Murray Arms is full of character – Robert Burns even wrote a draft of Scots Wha Hae here back in 1793. It’s recently been renovated, and the restaurant offers a lovely place to eat, with a mix of stylish spaces and a menu that blends local favourites with global flavours.
